President of South Africa has blamed the current spate of attacks on African immigrants on ignorance. He made the comment during the ANC anti-xenophobia rally.

He said, "ANC failed to teach citizens of our country about prominent roles other African nation played during our quest for freedom." "Apartheid was a violent form of government so we used violence in those days to defeat it, but we did not re-orientate our people after we got our freedom to drop violence" he further said.

An emotional Zuma who had addressed displaced immigrants in the refuge camp near Durban on Saturday; further explained that these attacks on foreigners would be blamed on ANC for not educating the people on roles inviduals from other African countries played in making the freedom black South Africans are enjoying today possible.

He however said that in coming months, ANC would marshal out programmes that will enlighten citizens in order to avoid a repeat of these ugly incidence.
