The statue of Cecil John Rhodes has finally been removed after nearly a month of demonstrations by Students" Representative Council (SRC) against it

University of Cape Town came 'alight' as many students and onlooker gathered at the bottom of Jameson steps to cheer as the statue was removed on Thursday(April 9).

It became more dramatic as the crowd started throwing items at the statue as the 17:00 deadline passed. They were even beating it with belts and throwing more paint over its face as the statue was being lifted for removal.
