Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect of Nigeria has said that electoral offenders must not go unpunished. He has said that his government would set up a special court for electoral offences.
He noted that he would implement the report of Justice Mohammed Uwais Committee’s on Electoral Reforms, after reading it to be able to extract recommendations that would help build a better electoral system for the nation.
He also said that he would seek the cooperation of the National Assembly for a comprehensive overhaul of the system.
Buhari who addressed the press after casting his vote, informed that there was generally low turnout of voters which was unexpected, but insinuated that maybe all the voted were keen for was just the president which they have voted for last two week.
