Robin Stransham-Ford had died this morning, after Pretoria High Court granted him constitutional right to die with dignity.
The advocate who had been terminally-ill of prostate cancer, approached the court to seek assisstance to protect the doctor who would help him to terminate his life.
A statement released by the family read:
Penelope, who is Stransham-Ford's ex-wife, was living with him while have he was receiving treatment for prostate cancer.
Judge Hans Fabricius of the Pretoria High Court had found it is terminally ill Stransham-Ford's constitutionally protected right to die with dignity.
He ruled a doctor could give the 65-year-old a lethal injection.
"The medical doctor who accedes to the request of the applicant will not be acting unlawfully and therefore shall not be subject to prosecution," said Fabricius.
