French President Francois Hollande has called the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari to congratulate him for his victory in presidential election. He however invited Buhari to France for discussion with the President-elect.

The French head of state assured the President-elect of France's wish to continue the close relation that existed between the two countries during his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan and also restated France's support for Nigeria and its neighbours in the efforts to root out the terrorist sect Boko Haram.
