More than 20,000 thousands of people gathered in Papua New Guinea on Tuesday to mark the arrival of a rare 404-year-old King James Bible donated by an American missionary. The ancient christian Holy book which its new home will be the PNG's parliament was escorted by politicians and religious leaders from Indiana USA.
The book was donated by Dr Gene Hood, now late, who sent more than a million Bibles to Russia and funded Christian radio stations and missionary work in Papua New Guinea.
The happy crowd cheered and a preacher leading the event yelled "Hallelujah, let the drums roar".
"We are very proud to receive the word of God ... [the] original King James word of God that is coming from Indiana to Papua New Guinea," one of them said.
"Receiving this Bible today adds to the sense of significance as we define our nation," another added, referring to Papua New Guinea's 40th anniversary of independence from Australia later this year. See more photos after the cut...
