Report indicate that a South African woman's bid to be the first black African woman to summit Mount Everest has been called off following the devasting earthquake and subsequent avalanche in the area over the weekend.
Katlego Letheo on Wednesday said via her Twitter ACCOUNT that the China Tibet Mountaineering Association had shut down mountain access in Tibet following the disaster.
The closure means that Letheo's bid to be the first black African woman to conquer Everest has ended.
"It's all over. Thanks 4 all support!," Letheo wrote on Twitter.
